Benjamin Goodman

Benjamin Goodman has performed and given masterclasses throughout the world, and has been awarded top prizes in international piano competitions. In 2017, he graduated with honours from Mannes College of Music, NYC, with a Post-Graduate Diploma in piano performance. He studied with Prof Pavlina Dokovska, and received the 2017 Steinway Award given to an outstanding graduating pianist from Mannes. In the same year he gave his solo recital debut at Carnegie's Weill Hall. In 2018, his debut CD,?Piano Works by Sara Feigin, was released by Navona Records. In 2020, he performed on a concert tour of the Far East with violinist Lily Ye. He has played as soloist with several orchestras, such as the Raanana Symphonette Orchestra, Israel, and St Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Lithuania. 

Goodman was born in Oxford, UK, and began playing piano and violin from the age of five. After immigrating to Israel at 13, he focussed his studies solely on piano, studying with Esther Narkis. He received a BMus and Mmus in piano performance, both with distinction, from the Jerusalem Academy of Music, studying with Prof Eitan Globerson. His studies have been supported by full scholarships from the Jerusalem Academy, from Mannes, and since 2008, from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.  

In 2020, Goodman began his doctoral studies at the Royal College of Music, London, and has been annually awarded an RCM Studentship Scholarship. His research, on cultural fusion in the piano compositions by composers who immigrated to Israel from the Soviet Union, has been supervised by Dr Christina Guillaumier, Dr Ingrid Pearson, Norbert Meyn, Dr Tania Lisboa, Prof Trevor Herbert, and Prof Norma Fisher. 

Goodman has presented lectures extensively, and for the past 4 years, he has been awarded a Visiting Research Fellowship at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
