Speaking of his appointment, Jason Evans says: ‘I am delighted to be taking on the role of Head of Brass at the Royal College of Music and am excited to lead this world-class faculty and its extraordinary professors and students. I’m honoured to be taking over from my esteemed colleague Nigel Black, who has worked tirelessly over his tenure. With alumni performing all over the world, I am looking forward to working with the next generation of students in a supportive and inclusive environment.’
Professor Colin Lawson, Director of the Royal College of Music comments: ‘I am delighted that Jason Evans will be taking on the role of Head of Brass at the RCM. The Brass Faculty is recognised internationally for its exceptional teachers and students, with graduates in major positions around the world. With Jason’s distinguished career as one of the leading trumpet players of his generation, and building on the achievements at the RCM of outgoing Head of Faculty, Nigel Black, we look forward to continuing success in the faculty.’
Jason will oversee the Brass Faculty of over 75 students across all study levels, beginning in the Autumn Term in 2022.
