The 2024 Big Give Christmas Challenge: our most ambitious match fund yet

Tuesday 19 November 2024

The Royal College of Music is delighted to have been selected to take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

Last year, we surpassed our target of unlocking and matching £60,000 of funds. This year, we have been invited to match an even more ambitions target of £100,000, making this year’s Challenge our greatest yet. With all donations going to our vital Scholarships Fund, we need your help to support talented young musicians.

How to donate

You can make the most of this wonderful opportunity, effectively doubling the impact of your gift, by donating via the RCM page on the Big Give website from 12pm on Tuesday 3 December until 12pm on Tuesday 10 December 2024. Your gift can help to unlock £100,000 of match funding so there really is no better way to give!

We will only be able to double donations whilst the match funds last, so please make sure you donate as soon as possible from 12pm on Tuesday 3 December.

Please note: a clear message will indicate when the Challenge begins, and your donation will be doubled. Donations can only be made between 3 December and the 10 December. You will be informed beforehand if your donation qualifies for matching.

About the Big Give

This year’s campaign will run from Tuesday 3 December, known as #GivingTuesday, to Tuesday 10 December 2024. During this week any gift from £1 to £25,000 made to the Royal College of Music will be matched up to a total of £100,000.

The RCM remains dedicated to its founding principle: providing opportunities for talented individuals, regardless of their background. Philanthropy has always been central to the RCM’s history and your support allows us to continue this mission, and helps the RCM thrive.

Thanks to your support, during last year’s Big Give Challenge, the RCM raised more than any other arts organisation, receiving the greatest number of gifts ever donated for the Big Give. Because of this generosity, we were able to allocate Big Give Scholarships to 13 RCM students in the 2023–24 academic year.

The RCM Scholarships Fund is a key pillar of support, allowing students from all backgrounds worldwide to access the highest levels of tuition, state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional opportunities.

Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Alec Reed, the Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign, helping UK registered charities raise thousands of pounds for their causes. Since the Big Give was launched, it has raised over £298 million for thousands of charitable projects.
