Master of Performance
A Master of Performance graduate in 2011, Alex is a champion of new music and forgotten repertoire, orchestral pianist and co-founder of the music and visual arts collaboration ‘The Pierrot Project’.
Alex has a passion for the unusual, new and unexplored, performing new music and repertoire by forgotten composers across Britain and Europe as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed at major venues globally, from London’s Wigmore Hall to the Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow. A former British Contemporary Piano Competition finalist and Park Lane Group Young Artist, Alex trained at York University before receiving tuition from Andrew Ball at the RCM and graduating with distinction.

Now a piano teacher in Devon, Alex appears on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 6 Music as a champion of contemporary music, and as an orchestral pianist, works with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, BBC NOW, UPROAR new music ensemble and London Sinfonietta. Alex directs, manages and performs with the Dr K. Sextet, curated the inaugural Cheltenham Music Festival Composer Academy and co-founded the music and visual arts collaboration ‘The Pierrot Project’. In 2021, he released a crowdfunded album of the forgotten works of composer F.S. Kelly.
