Allan X Chen is a passionate and award-winning composer, constantly seeking to challenge his capabilities.

His curiosity for learning has steered him through various genres and fulfilling collaborations with the likes of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the JACK Quartet, amongst many others. Allan’s music has been performed across the globe, at venues and festivals including the Cheltenham International Music Festival and the Bowdoin International Music Festival.

In 2020, Allan’s piece for orchestra, Semblance, was premiered by the RSNO under the baton of Teddy Abrams in a series of concerts across Scotland. Allan is also the recipient of the Elgar Memorial Prize for Composition and winner of the Bowdoin International Music Festival Student Composition Competition.
